An old Methodist Episcopal church that once was the tallest building in Denver closed its doors in 1975. The 1885 stone building trimmed in red sandstone stood empty for several years. Architect Norman Cable, who lives in the neighborhood, proposed converting the church into 12 condos, incorporating the building’s giant stained-glass windows and high ceilings into the design. He took the plan to a local developer, who bought the church and he spent more than $2 million on the renovation.
