One Perfect Day in Denver’s Congress Park Neighborhood
Congress Park is one of the hippest and most affluent neighborhoods in Denver. You’ll find multi-million dollar mansions intermingled with modest tudors and classic bungalows. Start your day with a coffee and pastry from Under the Umbrella Cafe & Bakery (3504 East 12th Avenue). Once you are properly charged up make your way to the world renowned 23-acre Denver Botanical Gardens (1007 York Street). Make sure to check out the theme gardens, sunken amphitheater and Japanese gardens — the Garden of the Wind and Pines — designed by Koichi Kawana.

After a stroll through the gardens, lace up your shoes, grab a racket and play a few games of tennis in Congress Park. They have some of the best courts in Denver and never seem to completely fill up. You’ll probably be pretty hungry at this point so shoot on over to Shells and Sauce (2600 East 12th Avenue) for some traditional Italian cuisine served on the beautiful roof top deck. I personally think they have the best Pasta Bolognese in Denver. Chase it down with a few glasses of Chianti and enjoy the Summer breeze.
After dinner you’ll want to head on down to Cloud 9 Frozen Custard (4300 East 8th Avenue). They only have 2 flavors, Chocolate and Vanilla with every imaginable topping. It’s considered by many to be one of the best frozen custards in Colorado.
